Primary Purpose:

The Long Term Tissue Technologist I shall perform routine long term storage processing, administrative tasks, lab cleaning support, distribution, quality control of labeling/packaging and maintain efficient production operations for CorneaGen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ocular Processing

  • Perform VisionGraft / Sclera / Bottle Filling processing per CorneaGen policies and procedures.
  • Aseptic Assisting / Circulating functions for LTT Processing
  • Perform processing for Bioburden/Dose Audit testing.

Laboratory and Maintenance

  • Follow all current standard operation procedures (SOP’s). Understands and practices universal safety precaution.
  • Perform VisionGraft / Sclera processing laboratory and equipment maintenance per CorneaGen policies and procedures.
  • Maintain legible and accurate documentation on all hard copy forms.
  • Perform laboratory cleaning maintenance.
  • Decontaminates, wraps, sterilizes surgical instruments.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly environmental monitoring.
  • Maintain VisionGraft / Sclera processing supply inventory, rotate and restock supplies.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by Lead Long Term Storage Processing Technologist in laboratory maintenance, quality control, documentation, irradiation testing, training and research.

Production Workflow Management

  • Assist with the coordination of testing requests for Bioburden/Dose Audit and environmental monitoring.
  • Perform in-process receiving and labeling of ocular tissues.
  • Perform long term storage final packaging, box assembly, final labelling.
  • Maintenance of SLN binder.
  • Perform quality control audit steps for long term storage products.
  • Perform LTT functions in electronic system.
  • Perform tasks in a safe manner in compliance with all current CorneaGen’s policies and procedures, safety policies, EBAA Medical Standards and FDA applicable regulations.
  • Assist in quality improvements in processing policies, procedures and forms.
  • Support with implementation of routine preventative maintenance/annual certification of equipment and troubleshooting activities required.
  • Contribute new ideas or techniques, which result in better service or improve quality of work of CorneaGen.
  • Maintain required communication with all departments in order maintain efficient time management.

Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Maintain documentation of in-process tissue as required, updating records at each step in the process.
  • Log review of laboratory documentation.
  • Review and release long term storage donor tissues into inventory.
  • Inventory of laboratory supplies and tissue products
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor related information.

Distribution

  • Receive and store VisionGraft and Sclera tissue.
  • Packaging and distribution of long term tissue requests.
  • Package and distribute Bioburden/Dose Audit samples.
  • Other distribution responsibilities as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in a life science field is preferred or equivalent education/experience in an allied health care field.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to interact effectively with all CorneaGen staff.
  • Must be able to work long hours, nights, and weekends when needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service in all interactions with domestic or international surgeons and staff.
  • Microsoft Office programs
  • Must have reliable, dependable transportation.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to take direction from others.
  • Must have strong organizational skills with attention to details.
