Legal Assistant Position

A well-established national law firm specializing in business immigration has an immediate need for an entry-level Legal Assistant to join their team on a long-term contract basis. This role provides the opportunity to perform substantive legal work supporting business immigration matters, including preparing immigration applications, drafting and revising case-related correspondence and supporting documentation, and communicating with corporate representatives and foreign nationals.

The firm provides comprehensive training and ongoing professional development, including immigration case strategy and preparation workshops, legal practice meetings, and a client service team structure that provides mentorship from senior professionals, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the legal field.

The ideal candidate will be a recent college graduate with demonstrated professional office experience, hold a Paralegal certification, or be an early-career professional with 1–2+ years of experience in the legal field, and must be available to work onsite in the firm's San Francisco office five days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze case documents and assist with preparing immigration applications and petitions for filing with the appropriate government agencies
  • Draft and revise specialized support letters and legal documents detailing eligibility for visa classifications and other immigration benefits
  • Review written materials for grammar, accuracy, clarity, and consistency and synthesize complex information into clear, concise narratives
  • Draft professional correspondence with clients, including emails and letters
  • Interface with corporate representatives and foreign nationals regarding case-related information and documentation
  • Compile and summarize case data, status information, and reports
  • Collect, organize, and maintain confidential client information and supporting case documentation
  • Manage a high volume of matters and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Participate in ongoing training workshops, legal practice meetings, and updates addressing immigration case strategy, current developments, advanced topics, and client service
  • Assist with additional legal projects as assigned
