Temporary Food Service Coordinator

The Temporary Food Service Coordinator prepares and provides food to Navigation Center guests. This position maintains kitchen, food prep and cleanliness of pantry. This is a Full-time, non-exempt, union position.

Swing Shift 4:00pm to 12:30am. Days off are Sunday and Monday. This is a temporary position ending October 21, 2026.

The Temporary Food Service Coordinator position starts at $23.00 per hour. Paid sick time is accrued according to the San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance (PSLO). Employees earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the day's meal by microwaving food when needed.
  • Rotates meals from freezer to refrigerator during their assigned shift in order to support next shift with the preparation for meal service.
  • Follow all applicable health guidelines for food safety handling.
  • Keep the kitchen and food preparation tools and supplies clean at all times.
  • Keep logs of food deliveries when delivered and when food is provided to guests.
  • Keep the community room clean at all times. The Food Service Coordinator will be responsible for sweeping and/or mopping of any immediate hazardous conditions. Alert the Supervisor on Duty of any issues that require the immediate attention of a Maintenance Worker.
  • Keep the pantry organized and clean.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the refrigerators and freezers.
  • Provide courteous and informative guest services.
  • Follow cleaning checklist and assigned shift duties daily during their assigned shift.
  • Complete all verbal and written instructions and duties in a satisfactory manner.
  • Wear an apron, non-slip shoes, pants, hair tied back, hair net and cap for proper safety and sanitation.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

Covid vaccination and negative TB test required. Background check completed upon acceptance of job offer.
