This role handles varying responsibilities as Aircraft Security Agent and Baggage Handler. In the role of Aircraft Security, you will guard secured areas of the airport, which includes entrances to aircraft. Inquiry to suspicious individuals and detailed observation is required. As our Baggage Handler, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the timely, efficient, and safe handling of passenger luggage from check-in to aircraft loading and vice versa. You will be involved in loading and unloading baggage from conveyor belts and aircraft, ensuring that luggage is handled with care and sorted accurately according to flight destinations.
Responsibilities include abiding by all airport and security rules and regulations, including challenging suspicious individuals and those not wearing a valid unescorted SIDA identification badge. Monitor security equipment and promptly report unusual, suspicious, or unauthorized activities. Utilize radio and electronic communication systems effectively to coordinate with airport staff and leadership. Perform routine security and safety checks of exits, doors, windows, jet bridges, and access points. Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout assigned areas. Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents and emergency situations. Ensure compliance with TSA regulations, airport security requirements, and company policies. Support and promote the company's Safety Management System (SMS) by reporting hazards, incidents, and near misses. Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance at the assigned work location. Load and unload passenger luggage. Operate baggage handling equipment such as conveyor belts and trolleys. Sort and route baggage to the correct flight and carousel. Exceed PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards. Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications include being 18 years of age or older, legally authorized to work in the country of employment, and communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking). Security or related experience preferred. Familiarity with airport security equipment and protocols. Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including iPads/Tablets, computers, and mobile devices. Ability to communicate effectively both in person and through electronic means. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable). Ability to work any day/shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays within a 24/7 operation.
Physical activity/working conditions may include ability to lift up to 70 pounds, prolonged standing and walking in indoor and outdoor environments, ability to push, pull, bend, stretch, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach with arms and grasp with hands, ability to climb and work at elevated heights when required, exposure to moderate and at times high noise levels, exposure to biohazards, chemicals, and outdoor elements, ability to hear and respond to spoken voice and audible alarms, tasks involving repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers, vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
