Logistics Manager

The Logistics Manager implements needed change and operational best practices in 3rd party warehouse management, sales support / order desk work flow, supply chain, inventory management, import/customs compliance, transportation and logistics strategies to support all inbound and outbound goods. The qualified candidate must be a "self starter" and must be able to work without the necessity of close supervision.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop transportation and logistics strategies leveraging supply market conditions to optimize the transportation and logistics network and total costs.
  • Manage import compliance and customs brokerage process with designated carriers, brokers and forwarders.
  • Lead negotiations and establish 3PL and freight contracts including final pricing and terms.
  • Continually benchmark the domestic and international transportation and logistics market to understand costs and to develop best practices.
  • Define and own the logistics communication process within the organization.
  • Maintain U.S. Customs compliance program & import/export document retention as required.
  • In collaboration with Quality, establish and maintain a highly effective Logistics and Transportation Supplier Scorecard program to assure the company's domestic and international suppliers meet quality, delivery and cost objectives.
  • Drive continuous cost and performance improvements by analyzing cost drivers, processes and specifications for improvement opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop local logistics coordinators to support the above responsibilities.
  • Continuously improve knowledge through benchmarking and active participation in industry groups.
  • Manage day-to-day departmental operations, including scheduling and supervision of staff
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in issue and conflict resolution.
  • Other duties as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management and/or
  • At least 5 years experience in logistics and 2 years experience in supervising
  • ERP/TMS experiences
  • Knowledge of UPS, FedEx and DHL systems are required for domestic and International shipments as well as LTL & FTL carriers.
  • Knowledge of Customs Border Protection (CBP), Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), Non-vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC), Partnered Government Agency (PGA), and all modes of global transport
  • Familiar with compliance matters involving government regulatory, logistics, and inventory matters
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel and Word, in order to create pivot tables, graphs and summary reports.
  • Oracle/NetSuite experience (preferred)
