Supervises the work of a small group of professional social work and support staff in providing clinical social work services for ambulatory patients and their families in a community ambulatory health care setting.
Plans, advises, assigns, and evaluates the work of professional social workers and support staff.
Participates in the formulation of clinic policies and procedures and in the implementation of new programs and services pertaining to clinical social work services in the ambulatory facility through coordination with administration and other teams.
Conducts orientation, in-service training and continuing staff development of professional social work staff.
Provides consultation to professional social work staff, staff in other teams, and public and private agency personnel regarding clinical social work policies, procedures, case management and techniques.
Speaks before and acts as a liaison with community groups, agencies and organizations regarding availability of services and programs, community resources and social work objectives.
Provides direct social work services to facility patients including referrals, individual, family and group counseling and therapy to address issues such as marital and family conflict, mental retardation, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, psychosomatic illness, suspected child abuse and venereal disease.
Prepares correspondence, budget requests, and annual reports on behalf of the unit. Maintains statistics pertaining to research and program evaluation.

Desirable qualifications:
Additional credit will be awarded for experience beyond the requirements.
Examination content:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience based upon application information and desirable qualifications weighted 100%. The passing score for this examination is 70%.
Eligibility and vacancy information:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Health Services as they occur.
Available shifts:
Appointees may be required to work any shift and at any facility, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
