Staff / Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York, NY Company Stage of Funding: Series E Healthcare AI Company ($800M Raised) Office Type: Hybrid (Minimum 3 Days Per Week Onsite) Salary: $211,000$248,000 + Equity

Company Description

We're representing a category-defining healthcare AI company transforming how clinicians interact with patient information. Their platform uses generative AI to convert medical conversations into structured clinical documentation in real time, helping healthcare providers focus more on patient care and less on administrative work.

Trusted by more than 100 healthcare systems, including some of the largest healthcare organizations in the country, the company is experiencing significant growth and scaling rapidly. Backed by leading investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed, IVP, Spark Capital, and others, they recently raised a $300M Series E round and have raised over $800M to date.

What You Will Do

  • Build and improve distributed systems that support large-scale healthcare AI applications.
  • Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks using observability, profiling, load testing, and chaos engineering methodologies.
  • Drive application-level scalability improvements through code refactoring, infrastructure modernization, and architectural enhancements.
  • Migrate and re-platform applications onto more scalable runtimes, event-driven architectures, databases, and cloud-native services.
  • Develop internal developer tools, frameworks, and enablement platforms that improve engineering velocity across the organization.
  • Partner with Platform and Product Engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, deployment practices, and service ownership.
  • Design and implement SLOs, error budgets, monitoring systems, and automated release processes.
  • Improve incident response readiness through observability enhancements, runbooks, and operational best practices.
  • Evangelize cloud-native engineering principles and mentor teams on scalable system design.
  • Contribute to the long-term evolution of the company's internal developer platform and infrastructure strategy.

Ideal Background

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience, with significant focus on backend systems, distributed systems, or platform engineering.
  • Strong track record of improving application scalability, performance, and reliability in production environments.
  • Experience operating within large-scale, high-growth SaaS or technology organizations.
  • Proven success reducing latency, improving throughput, and optimizing system performance using observability and profiling tools.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture and software scalability challenges.
  • Experience building internal tooling, developer platforms, or engineering enablement solutions.
  • Strong software engineering skills with a focus on application-layer infrastructure rather than traditional DevOps or infrastructure-as-code work.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple engineering teams.

Preferred

  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies such as Istio, ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (preferred) or other major cloud providers.
  • Strong proficiency with Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Experience using Datadog, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability platforms.
  • Background working at high-growth technology companies, developer tooling organizations, cloud infrastructure companies, or hyperscale SaaS businesses.
  • Experience with platform engineering, internal developer platforms, service templates, and self-service infrastructure.
  • Interest in engineering enablement and improving developer productivity at scale.
  • Contributions to open source projects, technical communities, conferences, or infrastructure-focused engineering initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $211,000$248,000.
  • Competitive equity package.
  • Hybrid work model with offices in San Francisco and New York City.
  • Opportunity to join a rapidly scaling healthcare AI company making a meaningful impact on patient care.
  • Work on highly scalable distributed systems supporting millions of healthcare interactions.
  • Strong technical ownership with opportunities to influence company-wide engineering practices.
  • Collaborative environment focused on innovation, reliability, and engineering excellence.
  • Backed by leading venture capital firms with significant growth momentum and long-term opportunities.
