Regional Director, Advanced TransportationCabrillo College is seeking a Regional Director, Advanced Transportation who under direction is responsible for facilitating and leading collaborative efforts by colleges in the Bay Area Community College Consortium (BACCC) and workforce development partners to achieve the region's workforce development goals and the California Community College system's Vision for Success goals. The Regional Director convenes collaborators to review labor market, student outcomes, and other data; review subregional, regional, and state goals and priorities; convenes collaborators to determine how to work together, invest resources and design projects to close labor market gaps while meeting equity goals; collectively set priorities, develop and implement work plans and identify performance indicators to achieve Regional Plan goals; secure resources as needed with the support of the collaborators; perform project management duties including work plan tracking, implementation, progress reporting and outcomes analysis; and perform related duties as assigned.BACCC GoalsProvide pathways that enable all Bay Area students to find employment and advance to livable wages;Meet the needs of employers in the Bay Region for well-qualified candidates for positions that pay livable wages;Ensure equity in participation, completion, and employment.The Regional Director for Advanced TransportationHas a strong understanding of which BACCC colleges have certificates and degrees in the Advanced Transportation sector to ensure industry partners are aware of those offerings and can provide work-based learning opportunities and/or hire our students accordingly.Brings colleges together with industry and other collaborators to set agreed‑upon priorities in support of ensuring students are prepared for and can access livable wage jobs in the Advanced Transportation sector.Stays abreast of industry trends, including changes in skills required, equipment being used, the impact of AI, as well as legislation and labor market outlooks related to livable wage jobs in the Advanced Transportation sector, to ensure that colleges are aware of these trends and can respond accordingly.Supports colleges in working collaboratively to respond to the aforementioned trends and meet labor market needs.Provides subject matter expertise related to the Advanced Transportation sector for the region and the Chancellor's Office.Supports the BACCC Co‑Chairs in responding to inquiries related to opportunities in the Advanced Transportation sector as they arise.Advanced Transportation OverviewAdvanced transportation refers to the application of innovative technologies, such as intelligent transportation systems, automated vehicles, and electrified infrastructure, to enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of moving people and goods. In the Bay Region, top labor market opportunities include Electric and Diesel Bus Maintenance and Repair Technicians and Aviation Maintenance Technicians. Priority career pathways include Transportation Equipment and Repair and Aviation Maintenance.Compensation and BenefitsSalary: Full-time administrative/management assignment (223‑day work year), 12 months per year, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with evenings and/or weekends as needed. Current eight-step schedule ranges from $106,367 to $149,669 per year . Salary placement is determined by documented education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $4,885 per year is provided to eligible employees. Position scheduled to begin as soon as possible, pending continuation of categorical funding and Governing Board ratification. Cabrillo is unable to sponsor work visas.Benefits: Cabrillo College currently provides a generous benefit stipend for employees plus dependents that employees apply towards benefit selections for medical, dental, life, and short‑term/long‑term disability insurance provided at a share of cost on a pretax basis, PERS Retirement, and an employee assistance program (EAP). Additionally, employees have the option to enroll in vision insurance at a discounted group rate. Depending on health plan selections, in many cases, full‑time employee net out‑of‑pocket for benefit premiums may be as low as $0. Classified administrators are required to join the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) and, as such, must contribute 8% of their monthly salary to PERS on a pre‑tax basis.Work‑Life BalanceThis opportunity is a full‑time assignment, 12 months per year. Cabrillo administrators enjoy a 223‑day work schedule, which equates to an average of 19 self‑selected non‑work days, 19 set holidays, 3 individual responsibility days off annually, 12 days of sick leave accrue annually, 7 days of which can be used as Personal Necessity.Cabrillo's Commitment to DiversityThe ideal candidate will share Cabrillo's commitment to educating its racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.As assigned to an Industry SectorProvides staff leadership and facilitation of an industry sector‑based advisory group in the planning, development, update and implementation of a regional plan that defines, supports and reflects the regional sector strategy; ensures the sector activities, programs and fiscal operations comply with the Chancellor's Office and funding sources.Develops and manages regional partnerships with businesses and industry groups.Coordinates sector‑focused faculty professional development that aligns with changes in sector industries; leads or facilitates the formation of regional CTE faculty communities of practice.Creates and/or facilitates the development of program enrichment proposals responsive to collaborator interests and data analysis for consideration by the colleges and partners and assists in successful implementation to increase enrollment, enhance Guided Pathways, close supply/demand, skills and equity gaps, align with regional industry priorities and industry‑recognized credentials and increase living wage opportunities for students.As assigned to BACCC subregion or Area of FocusProvides staff leadership and facilitation of colleges and partners within the subregion to establish priorities and develop and implement work plans based on subregional economies, informed by data analysis, and responsive to individual colleges' strengths and priorities and opportunities for positively impacting regional and state goals including increasing access to work based learning, improving student employment outcomes and closing labor market and equity gaps.Convenes, facilitates, and collaborates subregionally with employers, community colleges and workforce and economic development agencies on workforce development strategies, work plans, programs and engagement; acts as liaison to, and builds partnerships with county officials, employers, community colleges and other collaborators.Facilitates career pathway connections between two‑ and four‑year colleges, industry, Adult Education, K‑12 and Workforce Development Boards to provide more entry points to career pathways, to provide pathways that are more responsive to students' immediate and long‑term career objectives, and to provide career pathways that extend to higher skills and higher wages.Facilitates alignment, coordination and integration of services provided by colleges and other workforce development partners to provide supportive services that enable students to enter, persist, and complete career pathway programs and credentials, to participate in work‑based learning, and to find employment at higher wages.Assists colleges with identifying and applying for grants and other sources of funding; facilitates braiding of funding from multiple sources to address subregional and area of focus priorities, and seeks effective usage of apportionment and grant funding.Provides staff leadership, facilitation, and project management of colleges and collaborators within a BACCC defined area of focus to work collaboratively to attain the goals and objectives of the area of focus. This may include collection and analysis of relevant data; development and sharing of expertise in particular funding streams, programs, services, or systems relevant to workforce development; analysis of partner assets, services, policies, and constraints to identify and propose ways to benefit from opportunities for collaboration and to resolve or mitigate barriers to collaboration; seeking of resources to support development, alignment, coordination and integration of programs and services; and project management of efforts across multiple organizations.Other DutiesProvide and support strategies to assist colleges in providing career education and workforce training to all in a manner that is accessible, efficient, responsive and data driven; work with the colleges and key partners in the regional workforce and economic development ecosystem to help drive: collaboration and coordination of career education programs among colleges; regional and subregional strategies and partnerships to reduce skills, employment and equity gaps; capture and dissemination of valuable, region‑specific employer, industry, and student success data; develop and expand work based learning opportunities; develop strategies and structures that provide comprehensive support to serve part time and adult learners; and evolution of current regional governance structures and employer engagement functions that are much more inclusive and outcomes based.With BACCC leadership and college deans and faculty, identify curriculum gaps and recommend training programs, courses and curriculum areas for development; ensures pathways include career paths for industries and sectors with high employment opportunities.Monitors political and fiscal landscape affecting college, Strong Workforce Program and BACCC funding streams, program areas and strategic priorities; identifies new funding sources and grant opportunities and works to position the region to secure.Submit required reports in a timely manner.Participates in special projects and applicable BACCC meetings.Collaborate with other Regional Directors, and BACCC staff, to support each other's efforts.Performs related duties as assigned.QualificationsUnderstanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation, of community college students, faculty, and staff;
