OverviewStaff Software Engineer, Growth San FranciscoDescription: Build the data infrastructure for robots operating in the real world. Robotics is moving from research labs into production across factories, warehouses, vehicles, and field deployments. When robots fail, behave unexpectedly, or need to be improved, engineers rely on data to understand what actually happened.About the roleWe're looking for a Staff Growth Engineer to join Foxglove and embed directly with our Growth team. In this role, you'll own critical parts of the customer journey; from acquisition and onboarding to activation, monetization, and expansion; by building, iterating, and experimenting directly in the product. This is not a "growth hacks" role. You'll work at the intersection of engineering, product, data, and design to identify leverage points, run experiments, and ship durable improvements that meaningfully impact user outcomes and revenue. You'll balance speed with quality and short-term wins with long-term maintainability. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys ambiguity, cares deeply about product craft, and is energized by using data and experimentation to drive measurable results, without compromising trust, performance, or user experience.ResponsibilitiesOwn growth engineering efforts across key funnels, including onboarding, activation, upgrades, and expansionPartner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Marketing to define growth strategy, hypotheses, and success metricsDesign, build, and iterate on experiments (A/B tests, feature flags, instrumentation) across the productTranslate qualitative and quantitative insights into pragmatic technical solutions and experimentsImprove time-to-value for new users, especially for highly technical, developer-focused audiencesBuild and maintain growth infrastructure (experimentation frameworks, analytics hooks, feature gating)Balance rapid iteration with scalable, maintainable, production-quality codeDebug funnel drop-offs and performance issues using data, logs, and user feedbackShare learnings from experiments to inform product direction and improve team decision-makingAdvocate for engineering best practices, performance, accessibility, and reliability in growth surfacesWhat we're looking for8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with exposure to growth, product, or customer-facing workStrong product instincts and the ability to reason about user behavior, funnels, and trade-offsExperience building, shipping, and iterating on experiments in production systemsComfort working across the stack (frontend-heavy, backend-heavy, or truly full-stack are all fine)Ability to define success metrics, interpret results, and adjust direction based on dataStrong communication skills and comfort collaborating cross-functionallyProven ability to thrive in fast-moving environments and take ownership from idea to impactHigh standards for code quality, performance, and maintainabilityBonus pointsExperience working on developer tools, technical products, or complex B2B platformsFamiliarity with analytics, experimentation platforms, or event-based data pipelinesExperience improving onboarding or monetization flows in self-serve or PLG productsPrior work in robotics, autonomy, or highly technical domainsWhat We Offer$300 monthly budget towards commuter benefits or building your personal workspace (remote only)Competitive equity grant in a Series B companyMedical, Dental, Vision, and Term Life insurance coverage at 100% for employees and 75% for dependents401(k) matching up to 4%4 weeks vacation, plus holidays and winter breakAll expenses paid company off-sites 1-2 per yearWhy Join UsImpact: Own growth at a fast-growing, high-leverage moment for the company.Mission: Accelerate the development of the next generation of robotics and embodied AI.Team: Work with world-class engineers, designers, and researchers passionate about open-source and developer tools.Ownership: Drive initiatives end-to-end, with high autonomy and visibility.J-18808-Ljbffr
