The role of Exelixis' Business Development Search & Evaluation (BD S&E) team is to establish and manage a highly productive, agile global business opportunity identification network. Key objectives include building broad awareness of Exelixis' partnering goals, building a first-to-call reputation, and procuring access to novel, high-quality asset and technology partnering or acquisition opportunities for the company. BD S&E will leverage existing relationships and establish new networks with the biopharma industry, investment communities and with key medical research academics and innovators so that Exelixis is globally recognized as a preferred research, development and commercialization partner. As part of the Exelixis Business Development team, the BD S&E Director will be the first to review and qualify an opportunity, and to frame an initial business case that ensures scientific, clinical, commercial and corporate strategic fit, with particular focus on opportunities where Exelixis can substantially expand and maximize future value based on its R&D and commercial capabilities.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Science with thirteen (13) years of related experience; or,Doctorate of Pharmacy with eight (8)years of related experience; or,Business degree augmented with significant drug product development or commercial experience, or venture/private equity investment search and evaluation experienceMBA or PhD with a drug discovery & development and/or commercial product management focus is a plus.
Experience/The Ideal for Successful Entry into Job:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.Small or large molecule drug discovery, clinical development or commercial experience is necessary. Oncology experience and significant existing network of business and scientific contacts in this field is essential.Experience in search and evaluation, oncology competitive/corporate intelligence function, business development with emphasis on S&E, medical affairs or medical sales liaison experienceExperience interacting with investment community (VCs, investment banks), VC portfolio company board members and executives in technology areas of interest

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several?U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position?is $221,000 - $314,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate's geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
