Oversees the buying, pricing, merchandising, promotion, and profitability of the Piazza's Cheese departments and specific store-wide merchandising initiatives.
Works with Cheese managers in both stores in the following areas:
Proper cheese display practices
Proper handling and rotation of product to ensure highest quality
Manage inventory levels and turns
Maintain company signage program
Product knowledge
Employee development
Cross-merchandising of related products in cheese dept.
Maintain excellent and highly appealing retail conditions
Establishes excellent producer, distributor, and wholesaler relationships
Oversees the employee recruitment and development process for both Cheese departments
Continually refreshes product knowledge and stays abreast of food trends through a variety of sources
Works with Deli managers, Wine stewards, and grocery staff to create store-wide merchandising initiatives
Responsible for budgeting, promotion planning, and overall growth of Cheese department.
Job Qualifications
Retail grocery experience (at least 5 years)
Product merchandising experience
Product knowledge and passion for cheese and specialty foods
Positive attitude and great customer service skills
Great communication skills with customers, employees, and vendors
Detail-oriented regarding store inventory and merchandising
Timely, reliable, hardworking, and able to work well independently and with the team
Certification in Food Safety and Sanitation (e.g. Servsafe)
