Staff Mechanical Engineer

We're working exclusively with a well-funded, stealth-mode startup that's building a genuinely novel physical AI platform for healthcare - think precision robotics meeting real-world pharmacy automation at scale. They're on the way to completing their first major commercial contract and building toward significant production deployment.
They're looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to own complex electromechanical system design end-to-end - from concept through to production release, in a role that reports directly to CTO/co-founder level.
What you'll be doing:
-Designing sophisticated mechanisms for high-speed, high-accuracy electromechanical systems with pharmaceutical-grade precision requirements
-Leading DFx strategy and driving the transition from prototype to production at significant scale (4,000+ units/year)
-Owning supplier and CM relationships, build-to-print documentation, and cost-reduction initiatives
-Establishing test and validation protocols, FMEA, and reliability programmes for mission-critical field deployment
What they're looking for:
-15+ years hands-on mechanical / mechatronic engineering
-Proven experience taking products from concept to production release
-Deep DFM knowledge across machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, and die casting
-Advanced SolidWorks or Creo; strong master modelling practice
-Experience integrating mechanical systems with electronics, controls, and software
-Comfort in early-stage startup environments - bias toward action, low ego
