This is a highly strategic appointment sitting within the Chief Technologist organisation, working directly with senior leadership to shape howemerging technologies are identified, interpreted, and translated into long-term strategic priorities.

The Role

This is not a traditional research or analyst position.

The VP, Technology Foresight & Innovation will act as a strategic intelligence and ecosystem interface for the Chief Technologist team, responsible for identifying, filtering, and translating emerging technology signals into actionable insight for senior leadership.

Key areas of focus include:

• Tracking and interpreting emerging technology trends across industrial software, energy systems, data infrastructure, and AI‑enabled transformation
• Engaging actively with the external innovation ecosystem, including startups, venture capital, and academic research institutions
• Converting external insights into structured inputs that inform internal innovation priorities and strategic decision-making
• Collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, product, and strategy teams to embed foresight into planning cycles
• Supporting the design of focused research initiatives delivered by a small internal team
• Communicating complex technical and market insights clearly to executive-level stakeholders

This is a highly collaborative, iterative role operating at the intersection of external innovation and internal strategic execution.

We are looking for a senior technology leader who brings a rare combination of technical credibility, strategic curiosity, and external ecosystem awareness.

The ideal candidate will likely bring:

• A strong technical background (engineering or related discipline), ideally supported by an advanced degree
• Significant experience in technology research, emerging technology analysis, or strategic roles within industrial, energy, or enterprise software environments
• The ability to translate complex technological developments into clear, actionable insight for senior leadership
• Strong exposure to external innovation ecosystems, including startups, venture capital, analyst communities, or academic research
• Proven experience operating at senior levels, with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and shape strategic direction
• A collaborative, curious mindset, with comfort working in ambiguity and across multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for executive audiences
• A strong interest in how technologies such as AI, energy systems, and industrial digitalisation will reshape infrastructure over the coming years
