An Air Import Gateway Freight Forwarder will be responsible for managing and coordinating the importation of goods via air transport directly from the carrier facility to our CFS. Your role involves overseeing the entire import Gateway process, from tracking cargo arrival to arranging cargo transfer to the CFS station in compliance with CBP requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate air import shipments directly from arrival at the Ground Handling Agent to our DSV CFS facility, including daily tracking of cargo, Managing AMS system for PTT's, arranging recoveries, and coordinating with carriers and airlines.
  • Prepare import documentation, such as PTT's and Delivery Orders, accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage AMS system to obtain 1F customs approval. Pay correct Import Service to GHA. Ensure adherence to customs regulations as it relates to bonded cargo into a CFS
  • Address any issues or delays in transit and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Close follow up with carriers to resolve issues such as short cargo, delayed arrivals or damaged cargo. Timely submission of preliminary claims to GHA as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for other DSV Air Import offices, providing updates on shipment status, transit times and cargo recoveries to our CFS.
  • Liaise with freight carriers, ground handlers, customs brokers, and other service providers to coordinate import operations and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of shipment data and documentation, verifying compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in air import operations at the gateway facility. Implement best practices and quality standards to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Educational background / Work experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field preferred. Additional certifications in freight forwarding or customs brokerage are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in freight forwarding, air import operations, or international logistics, with specific experience in air freight preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of air freight operations, international trade regulations, and customs procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using freight forwarding software and systems (e.g., CargoWise, CHAMP Cargosystems).
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from relevant industry organizations (e.g., IATA, FIATA).
  • Experience with perishable goods or hazardous materials handling in air freight.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Computer Literacy Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Familiarity with freight forwarding software and systems for booking, tracking, and documentation management.

The expected base pay range is $22.50 - $30.50 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy.
