For a popular Matcha Tea Cafe
A restaurant general manager (GM) at the cafe manages the day-to-day operations of a restaurant, including staff, budget, and customer service. We have a pastry department, kitchen, counter service and fast casual (but elevated) service. The GM oversees the front and back of house operations, and works closely with other departments.

Hours: This is an exempt, full-time salary position. Your work schedule is based on needs of the operation and how organized the candidate can reach goals and work with staff. Your workload is based primarily on the ability to maintain and execute goals and expectations. Ideally, the candidate can be organized and have the ability to delegate and maintain day to day while communicating expectations and executing on the high level goals of the company.
Responsibilities:
Staff management: Recruit, train, and motivate staff, and manage vacation requests and absences
Staffing the right candidates in a timely and organized manner
Assign training regimen and find best ways to have staff retain information
Seek ways to regularly engage and motivate staff
Budget management: Oversee the yearly budget and payroll records
Ability to read and interpret the P&L, and make actionable goals along with supervisors
Ability to understand theoretical food cost and variance
Demonstrative ability to control labor and avoid waste in steps and day to day operations
Suggest improvements and new operating procedures
Customer service: Respond to customer complaints and queries, and offer menu advise
Demonstrative ability to attend to guest needs
Front and back of house operations: Coordinate the operations of the front and back of house
Coordinate specials, events, and adjustments to operations
Organize and attend regular meetings with staff
Able but not necessary to work all positions of the restaurant
Back office duties: Manage back office duties
Maintain relationship with vendors, contractors, and outside guests
Coordinate marketing or social campaigns and promotions
Organized & updated inventory control mechanism
Work with Finance and HR: Update and train new SOPs when needed
Employee performance: Evaluate employee performance
Your plan for annual/quarterly/monthly evaluations
Organize corrective actions and disciplinary steps

Ideal candidates exemplify these qualifications:
Has 7–10 years of food and beverage cumulative experience
Has 5 years of experience in a leadership role
Has experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Has a well-groomed and inviting appearance
Fluency in English.
Big Plus
Has experience in working with multicultural and multilingual staff - We have a mix of Japanese, Spanish, and English speaking staff. Huge plus if the candidate can speak Japanese but not necessary.
Experience with Japanese food and beverage
Salary Range:100k-140k- including bonuses, commission, other rewards
