Principal, Technical Program Management (Research & Development)Remote – United StatesAbout the RoleTwilio is the world's leading customer engagement platform. We are looking for a Principal, Technical Program Management to direct a portfolio of strategic, complex, multidisciplinary programs that accelerate R&D business impact. The role involves setting program strategy, leading cross‑org technical programs, managing program lifecycles, and collaborating with engineering and product leadership.ResponsibilitiesLead high‑impact, cross‑org technical programs spanning multiple products and platforms.Define and drive execution strategy, governance models, and integration approaches for large‑scale initiatives.Align cross‑org delivery and dependencies, proactively surface trade‑offs and resourcing gaps.Collaborate with senior engineers and architects on technical approach and risk.Establish ownership models and navigate conflicting priorities.Ensure platform‑wide non‑functional requirements are integrated and validated before launch.Build durable program mechanisms: operating cadences, reporting standards, readiness dashboards, etc.Qualifications10+ years of experience managing technical projects in software engineering.Proven program leadership delivering large‑scale technical programs across multiple organizations.Technical fluency to engage deeply in architecture and integration discussions.Influence without authority, building relationships across boundaries.Strong communication and executive‑ready narrative skills.Resilience in ambiguity, maintaining productivity during change.Execution rigor with enforceable mechanisms for high‑velocity delivery.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.Master's degree in CS, Engineering or related field (preferred).5+ years of program management at hyperscaler or Fortune 100 cloud/software/infrastructure companies.Experience in telephony, email, messaging, social media, or other electronic communications.LocationRemote, based in the United States.CompensationBased in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C.: $171,120.00 – $213,900.00Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside the San Francisco Bay area): $181,200.00 – $226,500.00Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $201,280.00 – $251,600.00May be eligible for equity plan; benefits include health insurance, 401(k), paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.What We OfferCompetitive pay, generous time off, parental and wellness leave, healthcare, retirement savings program, and more.
