Job Summary

To build crates to specific measurements for decorative arts, fine art and antiquities. To work on all aspects of the packing of decorative arts, fine art and antiquities. To oversee the

crate shop.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
High school diploma / GED required
Three years of experience in woodwork / carpentry and crate building
Three years of experience in the art handling industry; packing, handling and installing on a local and interstate basis
Three years of logistical, warehousing and moving experience
Excellent problem-solving skills
Familiarity with OSHA regulations
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Impeccable communication and multitasking skills
Ability to accurately execute detailed paperwork and condition reporting
Team player, able to work with all levels of staff in a dynamic environment
Comfortable in a results-driven workplace
Experience with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, jbars, dollies and other necessary logistics equipment
Ability to safely lift 70 pounds and maneuver objects of substantial size and weight on a daily basis without damage to object or person, including the ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly or cart
Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and reach overhead

Key Responsibilities
Build crates, following the instructions of the Crating & Packing Manager
Handle and pack decorative arts, fine art and antiquities, as well as other personal effects efficiently
Ensure all items are packed proficiently to reduce the risk of breakages at all times
Pack artworks, antiquities and fine furniture for transportation and storage
Handle and control all paperwork when on site or working in the field, including all condition reporting for items as needed
Proper handling of art objects, fragile and artistic material, antiquities and fine furniture
Ensure the correct paperwork / labelling is assigned to each crate / item
Place orders for crating supplies, such as lumber, etc.
Ensure a high degree of detail and focus on every job
Adhere to all required safety procedures, in line with company and OSHA guidance
Ensure crate shop is well maintained, organized and tidy at the end of each day
Training lower grade art handlers when required
Assist with installation projects as needed

General
Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures, and all other Company policies and procedures in place
Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
To act at all times in the best interests of Cadogan Tate, its customers and its employees

Operating Dimension/Decision Making Authority

All decisions to be reviewed by manager initially. Once a level of operating authority has been reached decision making authority level will be reviewed and agreed.

Uniform is mandatory and supplied by the Company. It must be work at all times and a smart appearance must be maintained.
