Location: Foster City, CA (Onsite – 5 days a week)

Job Overview

Client is seeking an Interior Systems Engineer to design, release, and launch complete interior systems for our vehicles. This role focuses on creating world-class interiors that excel in form, function, and durability. You will work on critical components like hard trim, headliner systems, insulators, pillar trims, and floor components, ensuring seamless integration throughout the vehicle.

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a lean and agile team, influence the automotive interior design process, and make a tangible impact in the autonomous vehicle industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and release of interior components and subsystems using CATIA V6, translating system requirements into production-ready designs.
  • Partner with the design studio to balance aesthetics, functionality, and cost through iterative development.
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams to ensure manufacturable designs that meet durability, reliability, and fit & finish standards.
  • Review and apply CAE simulation results to optimize product performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including DFMEAs and DVP&Rs, supporting validation and quality processes.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure successful launch of new vehicles while supporting the existing fleet.
  • Manage technical suppliers and project timelines to ensure successful delivery under tight constraints.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in automotive interior trim engineering
  • Proven experience developing OEM Tier-1 interior trim programs from concept through production launch, including hands-on launch support
  • Proficient in 3D modeling using CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
  • Experience with technical documentation processes, including DFMEAs and DVP&Rs, across at least one complete vehicle lifecycle
  • Experience managing technical suppliers and project timelines
