Our client, a Aerospace startup is seeking a Buyer / Planner for a 6- month contract-to-hire opportunity.

Pays between $35/hr - $55/hr DOE

Onsite in either San Jose or Mountain View, CA

They're seeking a Buyer / Planner – Indirect Materials to join a growing Supply Chain team supporting a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for sourcing and planning non-production materials and services that support daily business operations.

The ideal candidate has experience with indirect purchasing, inventory planning, and ERP systems, and thrives in an environment where organization, proactive communication, and problem-solving are essential.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their supply chain career who enjoys working cross-functionally and contributing to operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase and manage indirect materials and services required to support manufacturing and business operations
  • Monitor inventory levels and plan purchases to ensure materials are available when needed
  • Work closely with internal teams to forecast demand and coordinate procurement activities
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records within ERP/MRP systems
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm pricing, delivery schedules, and order status
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid operational disruptions
  • Track and resolve order discrepancies, shortages, or supplier issues

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or indirect sourcing
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
  • Experience with placing POs
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and Google Docs
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while staying proactive and reliable
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Strong negotiation skills when working with suppliers
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate purchasing data and trends
  • Experience supporting indirect procurement strategies or cost reduction initiatives
