Labor & Employment Attorney

  2026-04-01     Npa Worldwide     San Francisco,CA
Description:

Labor & Employment Attorney Public Sector Focused Law Firm (California)

A well-established, full-service California law firm with deep roots in public sector representation is looking to add several talented Labor & Employment attorneys to its growing practice. The firm has been serving government agencies and private entities for nearly a century and operates multiple offices throughout the state.

The Opportunity

You'll advise public agency and private-sector clients on a broad range of employment and traditional labor matters, with an emphasis on transactional work. This is a chance to do meaningful work that directly impacts communities advising the government entities that serve them while enjoying a quality of life that larger firms often can't match.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 38 years of substantive labor and employment experience, ideally with a transactional focus
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (minimum 3.0 GPA for candidates with fewer than 5 years of experience)
  • Active California Bar membership required
  • Background at boutique firms, large national firms, or government counsel offices preferred
  • Strong writing, research, and analytical abilities
  • Genuine interest in public law and government-facing work
  • Must be based in California or willing to relocate

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual performance-based bonuses
  • 1,850 billable hour target
  • Fully remote or hybrid work arrangements available (California-based)
  • Annual telecommuting budget to support your home office setup
  • Competitive health insurance, 401(k) with partial employer match
  • Yearly professional development budget for CLEs and conferences
  • Up to 40 hours of billable pro bono credit annually

Culture & Growth

The firm prides itself on a collaborative and inclusive environment. New attorneys are paired with a peer mentor from day one, and there are active programs for professional development, civic engagement, and diversity initiatives. Partnership track does not require a book of business; advancement is based on skill, experience, and drive.

Why Is This a Great Opportunity

You'll get the flexibility most BigLaw firms can't offer - fully remote or hybrid work with 90-95% of teams working remotely.
