Job Summary

The Department of Nutrition & Food Services has units at several campuses including Parnassus, Mount Zion, Mission Bay, Hyde and Stanyan hospitals.

This position provides high-level professional administrative, financial, human resources, cash handling, and operational support to ensure department operates efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance. This role functions with a significant degree of independence and is responsible for managing complex, high-impact processes across multiple functional areas and sites.

This position is part of the Central Business Office of Nutrition and Food Services and will be assigned to work at various campuses as needed.

The position serves as a key resource to staff and leadership by resolving issues proactively, enhancing operational efficiency, and maintaining critical departmental workflows with minimal supervision.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $78,900 - $96,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Health Department of Nutrition and Food Services is a high performing and nationally recognized food and nutrition service operation. The department is comprised of three divisions: food service (room service style patient food service, retail food operations including cafes, quick service coffee outlets, a large-scale catering program with conference services, with supporting entities of culinary services, food procurement services, and a business office), retail services (gift and specialty shops), and nutrition services (inpatient and outpatient nutrition services for adults and pediatrics and a dietetic internship). The entities are primarily based at the five UCSF Health hospital campuses but also at clinics throughout the Bay Area. The total department has over 450 FTE with an overall operating budget of $54M.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or other related area, plus 3 years HR/personnel or accounts payable administrative experience in a large organization, or equivalent experience / training.
• 3+ years of relevant progressive experience
• Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
• Interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills, and the ability to prepare and administer oral/written presentations
• Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
• Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
• Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for employees.
• Experience working independently with minimal supervision and supporting large teams.
• Experience in successfully completing multi-task projects on time in a high-pressure environment.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, etc) and other administrative software programs.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations, including Stanyan, Hyde & BCH Oakland locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• General knowledge or experience in Food Service operations
• Experience working in a large health care setting
