What You'll Do
As a Merchandise Buyer, you'll develop exceptional product assortments for our omni-channel business through comprehensive analysis, trend research, and international sourcing. You'll identify opportunities and recommend new products and concepts that resonate with our customers, all while showcasing your keen eye for design and sound judgment. You'll oversee multiple categories, holding financial accountability for key metrics.
You will be a pivotal member of our dynamic Merchandising team, building relationships with both internal and external partners. Your collaboration and creativity will bring exciting products to life. In this role, you will also manage the professional development of an Assistant Buyer and/or Associate Buyer through training, coaching, and feedback.
In this role, you will:
Own the Business: Develop and Execute Strategies
- Create strategic assortments that align with financial objectives.
- Develop exciting core and seasonal products for our customers.
- Build assortment plans by competitive shopping, collaborating with vendors, and analyzing market trends.
- Stay informed about competition and market dynamics.
- Communicate product vision and category performance with confidence to partners.
- Travel to vendor factories and attend trade shows domestically and internationally as necessary.
Drive the Business: Manage Financial Aspects
- Oversee Open to Buy (OTB) and Buy Plans for assigned categories alongside Inventory Management partners.
- Actively manage business performance through proactive planning and in-season execution.
- Conduct regular reviews of business performance, providing analysis, summaries, and recommendations.
- Recognize key business opportunities and devise competitive strategies.
- Manage promotional strategies to enhance sales and profitability.
Manage Sourcing Relationships and Communications
- Negotiate pricing and manage vendor relationships, addressing quality issues and organizing claims preparation.
- Source and onboard new vendors, collaborating with agents and internal teams.
- Research and present innovative product ideas to internal partners.
- Support Advertising, Marketing, Visual, and eCommerce efforts to boost sales within your categories.
- Ensure accuracy of marketing exposure and signage.

- Work Location: Hybrid, with an average of up to 3 days per week at our Alameda, CA Home Office.

CA Pay Range is $110,000 to $150,000 annually.
Full-time and part-time associates are eligible for the Company's 401(k) retirement savings plan after three (3) months of service. Benefits for full-time employees include various programs on the first of the month following 30 continuous days of employment.
