Our Cost Management team is growing! We are seeking talented cost professionalsfrom Cost Manager to Director of Cost Managementto join our highly respected cost management and estimating team. Our team supports a wide range of projects across industries including life sciences, data centers, healthcare, education, and hospitality, offering the chance to work in diverse and dynamic markets throughout the United States.

We partner with clients to deliver solutions across many areas of cost management, including conceptual estimating, budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, value management, economic forecasting, milestone reporting, pre- and post-contract auditing, change order review and reconciliation, BIM 5D cost modeling, LEED cost analysis, life cycle costing, and more.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop budget estimates by performing accurate quantity take offs using plans and specifications, or conceptual information.
  • Review, interpret and define the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.
  • Build up unit costs based on understanding of labor and material rate structures.
  • Understand local market conditions and solicit feedback where applicable.
  • Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver summary analysis for assigned scope of work.
  • Evaluate change orders and peer review of estimates.
  • Assist with the continuous cost management process.
  • Review, analyze, quantify, and assess change orders.
  • Review and understand commercial contract terms.
  • Participate in local industry events.
  • Develop and implement risk and value management exercises on projects.
  • Lead the development of estimates for projects under the supervision of their manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance at work during normal business hours.

  • Ability to quickly analyze, compare, and interpret detailed but sometimes poorly defined information.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the different roles and services Cumming provides and how the cost management team fits in the project.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cost management fundamentals.
  • Ability to read and interpret various documents such as Arch, Civil, Structural, MEP, Geotech, Site Logistics, and Schedules.
  • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders, internal and external to the company.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Education: BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field
  • Experience: More than 3 years' experience post receiving undergraduate degree working in related field
  • Preferred Certification: Working towards Professional Certification MRICS, AssocRICS, AIQS, CCP, CEP, CPE or equivalent.

The salary range for this full-time role is $95,500.00-$167,833.37 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
