People Operations Manager (Consultant)

LHH is teaming up with a growing, mission-driven organization within the biotech industry in search of a People Operations Manager to support the People function during a period of intentional growth and operational buildout.

This organization is investing in strengthening its People infrastructure to support scalability, consistency, and compliance. This 6 month consulting engagement will focus on optimizing HR operations, improving systems, and creating clear, repeatable processes across the employee lifecycle. The environment is collaborative, thoughtful, and focused on building sustainable foundations that support both employees and leadership.

The ideal candidate is an experienced People Operations professional who has supported scaling organizations and enjoys bringing structure to evolving environments. This individual is comfortable auditing current processes, identifying gaps, and implementing practical improvements. Strong emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to partner closely with People leadership are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and scale HR operations and People infrastructure
  • Audit, optimize, and maintain HRIS workflows, automations, and reporting (Rippling)
  • Build and document standard operating procedures, playbooks, and employee lifecycle processes
  • Improve onboarding and offboarding workflows to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Support People initiatives across employee experience, manager enablement, and recruiting operations
  • Organize and optimize HR documentation and file management using SharePoint
  • Develop HR dashboards and reporting to support data-informed decision-making

Qualifications

  • 58+ years of experience in HR, HR Operations, or People Operations
  • Hands-on experience administering and optimizing HRIS platforms (Rippling required)
  • Experience supporting scaling organizations and building operational structure
  • Strong background in process documentation, SOP development, and workflow design
  • Experience working in regulated environments (life sciences, biotech, healthcare, or similar)
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and cross-functional communication skills
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability to work regular office hours in PST time zone

Job Type: Contract (6 months)

Start Date: Mid-April 2026

Location: Remote (PST required); open to hybrid or on-site candidates in San Francisco Bay Area, CA

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible within standard business hours)

Pay Rate: $65$75/hour, depending on experience
