Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced EHS professional with a minimum of 3 years of applied safety experience supporting regulatory compliance, site inspections, and safety program development. This role is based in South San Francisco, CA and supports site-based environmental health and safety programs within a biotechnology and research environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, biosafety programs, and environmental compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support implementation and compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
• Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments
• Develop, implement, and deliver EHS and biosafety training programs
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; develop corrective and preventative actions
• Support environmental compliance programs including air, water, and hazardous waste management
• Maintain EHS documentation, reports, and regulatory records
• Track and analyze EHS metrics and performance indicators
• Support development of site-specific safety plans and procedures
• Provide technical guidance on safety, biosafety, and industrial hygiene matters
• Collaborate with operations, laboratory personnel, and management to improve safety culture
• Stay current on regulatory changes and assess impacts to site operations
Required Certifications, Licensing, and Eligibility:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field (required)
• Minimum 3 years of professional EHS experience
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and applicable state regulations
• Valid driver's license (if required for local travel)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting biotechnology, laboratory, or research environments
• Experience with biosafety programs and regulatory compliance
• OSHA 30-hour certification
• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification
• Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, RBP, or CBSP (preferred)
• Experience with environmental programs (air, water, hazardous waste)
• Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
Working Environment:
This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and requires on-site work at a biotechnology research facility. The role involves collaboration with laboratory staff, operations teams, and EHS leadership to support a safe and compliant working environment.
