Currently we are seeking a Credit Underwriter. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and development of an assigned portfolio of loan relationships. Acts as a consultant to clients and a resource to the bank in developing and retaining business. Will underwrite a wide variety of complex secured and unsecured loans and lines of credit. Analyzes financial statements, financial ratios, tax returns, and other documents to evaluate risk exposure and prepares written loan recommendations that are consistent with bank objectives. In complex situations, may work directly with the client and or the account officer to determine the most appropriate financing solution. Processes loan applications received from assigned branches or business development officers (BDO's). Corresponds with branch managers or business development officers to communicate progress of application and ultimate action. Provides branch managers or BDO's accurate and timely advice, explanation, and guidance on loan packaging, pricing, underwriting issues and policies, structuring, and negotiating of new or existing loan requests. Makes joint calls with Branch Manager or BDO's to enhance key relationships and/or to better assess credit risks in relatively substantial and complex credit requests. Ensures that loan delivery to the client is properly coordinated and communicated with the Branch Managers/ BDO's to ensure customer satisfaction and goodwill. Works with the Branch Manager to develop, enhance, cross-sell, and to maintain a full-banking relationship with assigned borrowers.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or related field. Three to Ten years of experience in credit underwriting of commercial loans, with a thorough understanding of commercial lending, loan documentation, real estate secured transactions, valuation methodologies, lending regulations, and financial and credit analysis. Ability to use creativity, knowledge, and experience to structure loans in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the customer and to the bank. Must be able to work autonomously to make sound credit decisions and be able to assume an appropriate level of responsibility commensurate with experience. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work assignments. Strong Organizational Skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. Intermediate PC skills with MS Word and Excel.

Bilingual a plus.
