About Golden Gate Veterinary Specialists - Surgery Department: We are currently searching for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our esteemed team of board-certified surgeons who specialize in small animal procedures. Our advanced facility features cutting-edge imaging technology, including a state-of-the-art computed tomography (CT) scanner and high-resolution digital X-ray equipment, enabling precise diagnostic evaluation. We also offer a variety of specialized surgical procedures such as minimally invasive surgeries and complex orthopedic repairs, dedicated to delivering personalized care for our patients and their families.

Key Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in endotracheal intubation and anesthesia administration, with expertise in airway management and sedation protocols
  • A friendly, personable attitude to create a welcoming environment for clients and pets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, team members, and veterinarians
  • Ability to handle various roles such as client greetings, managing surgical schedules, and phone inquiries
  • Technological proficiency, including familiarity with veterinary practice management software (Ezyvet) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • A collaborative team player eager to learn new techniques and adapt to evolving veterinary practices

Essential Medical Skills:

  • Strong phlebotomy skills with the ability to draw blood safely and accurately
  • Experience with IV catheter placement and care
  • Competence in anesthetic induction and monitoring during surgical or diagnostic procedures
  • Assisting surgeons effectively during various procedures
  • Knowledgeable in applying bandages, splints, wound dressings, and infection control
  • Able to guide pet owners on post-procedural care and medication administration

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service through positive interactions with clients and pets
  • Strive to exceed expectations with compassionate, attentive service
  • Provide primary nursing care with empathy as the main focus
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the clinic
  • Communicate relevant medical findings to veterinarians for prompt action
  • Keep accurate and detailed medical and administrative records
  • Dispense medications and manage prescriptions as directed by veterinarians

Education & Physical Requirements:

  • A college degree or equivalent education leading to Registered Veterinary Technician certification
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds safely
  • Willingness to work overtime, especially during lengthy surgical procedures
  • Physical capacity to walk, bend, stand, or squat continuously during a 10-hour shift

Compensation: $29 - $38 Hourly Wage
