The Human Services Department (HSD) works to strengthen Oakland communities by ensuring access to essential services that support children, youth, and families. This position supports the City's food programs, which provide free meals to children and youth during periods when school is not in session. Food Program Drivers play a key role in ensuring meals are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with City, State, and federal requirements. This work directly supports food access, program integrity, and community trust. The position is part of a small, mission-driven team focused on public service, operational reliability, and equitable access to nutritious food across Oakland neighborhoods.

What you will typically be responsible for: - Delivering meals and snacks to food program sites and verifying delivery quantities.
- Monitoring meal service at sites to ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Coordinating meal count changes or delivery issues with vendors and City staff, as directed.
- Conducting site visits to observe operations and identify food service or access issues.
- Maintaining daily delivery and monitoring logs using mobile and computer-based systems.
- Serving as a point of contact for food service or delivery concerns in the field.
- Communicating issues, discrepancies, or concerns promptly to supervisors.
- Operating a City vehicle safely while traveling between multiple program sites.

Minimum Requirements for Application Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: One year experience performing delivery duties.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
License or Certificate / Other Requirements: Possession of a California Driver's License.
Desirable Qualifications: - Experience working with children or youth in a school or community setting.
- Prior experience with food programs, meal service, or site monitoring.
- Experience operating a vehicle in urban environments and navigating multiple neighborhoods.
- Experience in delivery, logistics, or route-based work.
- Experience using mobile data collection tools or compliance apps.
- Interest in public service, community health, or human services.
- Multilingual skills relevant to Oakland communities.
