Research & Development Group

Provides research into specific applications such as improved quality of existing products, more cost-effective manufacturing processes, a new product line or new area of business. Delivers the technology and process capability needed to operate, maintain and improve manufacturing operations. Collaborates with the business and manufacturing teams to define process technology direction and programs to the business.

Research & Development

Performs theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigation directed toward the acquisition of new knowledge. May conduct analytical, experimental, investigative and other fact-finding work to support principal scientific research. Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results, including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses. Identifies, assesses and develops new scientific concepts/technologies in basic or applied research with significant business impact. Documents research leading to patent disclosure or technical and/or scientific advancement.

  • Manager or experienced individual contributor who has substantial knowledge in a specialization, performing complex and varied responsibilities. May provide guidance and management to groups and individuals in area of responsibility.

  • Applies specialized professional knowledge about theoretical concepts and principles within own field; is a sought after thought partner.

  • Acts as advisor to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.

  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate the business/processes in the market.

  • Guides and prioritizes the activities of individual contributors accountable for similar responsibilities and performing moderately diverse activities.

  • Works independently and receives minimal guidance; contributes to and executes business, functional or product strategies.

  • Impact of work reflects directly on the overall team for quality of process execution and responsiveness to business needs.

  • Operates with latitude for action and decision-making; uses judgment to make decisions that affect own area of responsibility within the business/function.

  • Solves technical or operational problems (with or without vague/unstructured aspects); takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD degree in Chemistry , Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , or a related discipline.

  • Strong foundation in nanotechnologies , polymer science , thermo-mechanical behavior , material physics , electrical properties , and materials modeling .

  • Prior experience leading technical teams or managing scientists/engineers in an R&D environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to set direction, guide technical decisions, and manage competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with analytical techniques and modeling tools relevant to nanomaterials, polymers, surface chemistry, thermal and electrical characterization.

  • Background in advanced manufacturing environments such as polymers, semiconductors, metallurgy, or materials processing.

  • Track record of building teams, elevating talent, and fostering innovation.

The Pay range for this role is $146,650.00 - $230,450.00 Annual

How Base Pay is Determined: Qnity has job leveling frameworks that help organize roles based on progressive levels of responsibility, proficiency and qualifications. Each role has an associated pay range (or an established pay rate for some roles) based on the competitive market in each country where we operate. Each individual's pay is based on a variety of factors, including their role and the associated pay range for that role, their geographic location (i.e., country, state, metropolitan area), as well as their skills, experience, education and certifications, and performance.
