We prioritize speed and efficiency in our underwriting processes, ensuring quick turnaround times while maintaining close collaboration with our brokers and clients.

We are looking for experienced business line underwriters who are passionate about strategic investments in technology. As an Executive Underwriter, you will monitor private equity investment trends, grow the Y-Risk portfolio, and report directly to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and target emerging technologies for underwriting opportunities.
  • Develop strategic plans and market analyses focused on investment trends.
  • Collaborate with The Hartford's resources to evaluate innovative businesses and technologies.
  • Engage with the local tech community and foster partnerships at industry events.
  • Conduct underwriting reviews, evaluations, and manage renewals ensuring compliance with guidelines.
  • Maintain quality submissions and manage a book of business exceeding $5MM within 24 months.
  • Cultivate relationships with brokers to enhance account management and submission strategy.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of P&C carrier underwriting experience; experience in commercial Auto and GL is a plus.
  • Ability to underwrite complex business independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Innovative mindset to translate technology opportunities into insurance solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven sales and negotiation skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Able to travel as needed for relationship management (approximately once per month).
  • This role offers a Hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the Downtown San Francisco office each week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation:

The annualized base pay range for this role is $96,400 - $180,000 depending on experience and performance. Additional rewards may include bonuses and long-term incentives.
