Lead Medical Laboratory Technologist

This position is contingent upon contract award and may require travel.

  • Perform a range of intricate tests across various domains including chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, and bacteriological.
  • Examine body fluids and cells, including blood matching for transfusions.
  • Ensure compliance with American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards for blood product maintenance.
  • Analyze chemical content in different fluids, including drug levels in blood samples.
  • Prepare specimens for cell counting and detect abnormalities in blood and other bodily fluids.
  • Communicate test results to physicians to facilitate informed clinical decision-making.
  • Culture body fluids and tissue samples to identify microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and parasites.
  • Evaluate chemical reactions and concentrations of elements like glucose and cholesterol.
  • Develop and refine testing procedures while overseeing programs to guarantee precision.
  • Implement universal safety precautions to ensure protection from biohazardous materials for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Manage laboratory inventory by ordering supplies and maintaining a secure and clean working environment.
  • Supervise laboratory operations, providing mentorship and support to medical technologists and technicians.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Medical Technology training program.
  • Certification from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, Inc. (NCA).
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • At least one year in a leadership role is preferred.
  • Recent clinical experience in direct patient care within the last 12 months is essential.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities, attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication proficiency.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiar with standard office equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work requirements based on operational needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to effectively resolve inquiries.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident who has resided in the U.S. for at least three of the past five years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current adjudicated Department of Homeland Security clearance.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Work is typically performed in an office environment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
