JOB OVERVIEW

The Home Care Aide of Care Indeed provides Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) services to clients who pay privately or are covered by insurance that does not require a certified nursing assistant to provide the services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates support for the agency's mission statement to promote quality, efficient, comprehensive, and effective client services.
  • Participates in and supports the agency's performance improvement activities.
  • Provides basic personal care assistant services to clients as identified by the agency in the plan of services per agency policies, procedures, and Basic Personal Care Assistant skill level.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and timely client notes, documenting interventions, client pain score, outcomes, and client response per agency policy.
  • Assists with personal care activities (ADLs) and IADLs, allowing client independence to tolerance as indicated in the service plan, including:
  • Personal care and hygiene
  • Universal precautions
  • Locomotion/ambulation/fall prevention oversight
  • Nutritional support, meal preparation, feeding assistance
  • Bed mobility and positioning, range of motion exercises
  • Toileting
  • Continence care
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Bathing
  • Foot care (nails filed only)
  • Skin care
  • Medication reminder assistance
  • Light housekeeping, including dusting, vacuuming, linen changes
  • Laundry of client's clothing and bedding.
  • Social and emotional support
  • Reports client condition changes to supervision.
  • Appropriately seeks supervisory assistance as necessary to effectively perform duties.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client, employee, and agency operations.
  • Meets productivity requirements established for Basic Personal Care Assistant.
  • Participates in 8 hours of in-service and training as assigned.
  • Responsible for proper use and care of equipment.
  • Practices safety, universal precautions, and infection control measures.
  • Maintains a neat appearance and positive attitude with clients, family, and personnel.
  • Performs other duties as qualified and requested.

QUALIFICATION

  • High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalence Certificate.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of prior experience in home care working with clients with varying medical conditions, or one (1) to five (5) years of experience with a home care agency.
  • Must have a current criminal clearance that meets agency, local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Must be free from health problems that could be injurious to clients, self, or co-workers and must provide appropriate evidence to substantiate this.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safety regulations.
  • Compassionate, patient, and reliable.

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens: Limited exposure

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND JOB CONDITIONS

  • It is primarily a job that essentially involves sitting, standing, stooping, and walking
    Mobility expectations:
    1. Ability to help clients with mobility, such as transferring from bed to wheelchair or helping with standing and walking.
    2. Ability to lift and move clients who require assistance with mobility, up to 50 pounds.
    3. Ability to help clients with exercise and physical therapy as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
    4. Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks, which may involve some physical activity such as bending, stooping, and reaching.
    5. Ability to drive to and from clients' homes, which may involve sitting for extended periods of time.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to provide two professional references
  • Must pass medical clearance and background check
  • COVID Vaccine
  • CPR AED and First Aid certificate preferred
  • Home Care Aide Registered preferred
  • Valid California Driver's License preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must have the ability to travel to client homes and care facilities as required

WORK HOURS

  • Work hours will vary depending on the client's needs.
  • Work hours may include day, evening, weekend, or holiday shifts, based on client needs and the availability of the employee.
