Join Our Elite Surgery Team! The Golden Gate Veterinary Specialists - Surgery Department, part of AOSN, is on the lookout for a committed Veterinary Surgical Technician. Our facility boasts two highly skilled, board-certified surgeons specializing in advanced small animal procedures. With our cutting-edge technology, which includes a CT scanner and digital X-ray, we are well-equipped to conduct thorough diagnostic assessments and specialized surgical procedures.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with endotracheal intubation and anesthesia management for effective airway control
  • A personable approach that enhances client experiences
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to perform varied roles, including client outreach, managing surgical schedules, and handling inquiries
  • Proficiency in veterinary practice management software (Ezyvet), electronic health records, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • A commitment to teamwork and continuous learning

Medical Skills Required:

  • Proficient in phlebotomy and blood drawing techniques
  • Experience in IV catheter placement and management
  • Capable of anesthetic induction and patient monitoring
  • Assisting veterinarians during surgical interventions
  • Adept in applying bandages, wound care, and infection control
  • Ability to guide pet owners on care, medications, and post-procedural instructions

Primary Duties Include:

  • Fostering positive relationships with clients and pets to create a welcoming atmosphere
  • Delivering compassionate nursing care as a top priority for all patients
  • Ensuring clinic cleanliness and safety protocols
  • Communicating essential findings to veterinarians for timely interventions
  • Maintaining precise medical and administrative records
  • Filling prescriptions and dispensing medications as directed by veterinarians

Education and Physical Requirements:

  • Completion of education required to become a Registered Veterinary Technician
  • Strong attendance and punctuality are essential for success
  • Able to safely lift and carry items up to 40 pounds
  • Availability for overtime as surgical procedures may run longer than anticipated
  • Physically capable of walking, bending, standing, and reaching throughout a 10-hour shift
