We are seeking a Kitchen Manager to join our award-winning team.
The Kitchen Manager position supports the executive team in effective management of the kitchen instilling exceptional systems and efficiency standards while completing all responsibilities with a sense of urgency.
The position is responsible for ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, directing cleaning schedule with attention to detail, monitoring cost relative to loss and amenity needs for breakfast, cocktail hour, and room service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Curate and maintain room service menu focused on local, seasonal options.
- Train overnight staff in menu production and plate up.
- Update and elevate breakfast offerings and hot/cold hors d'oeuvres (cocktail and wine service) adding a rotation of select items that focus on local and seasonal offerings.
- Train kitchen team in production and cleaning schedules.
- Train new hires in room service plate-ups and collaborate with GM to train FOH service standards
- Maintain inventory and par for beverage service (not including liquor/wine), food service, kitchen equipment and supplies, FOH service equipment and supplies.
- Monitor Food & Beverage expenditures and p/l's.
- Complete necessary paperwork as needed.
- Manage kitchen staff, collaborating with GM & Operations Manager for employee performance evaluations.
- Visually inspect breakfast service, dining room, wine/hors d' oeuvres service, sitting area to ensure elevated standards are met.
- Document and submit work orders to report items that need to be repaired, following up with the Maintenance Department as needed.
- Participate in the monthly manager meeting.
- Communicate safety issues.
- All other duties as assigned by the General Manager and Operations Manager.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel and the Manager will be required to work at least 40 hours per week, sometimes more, including weekend shifts. Precise working hours are subject to change based on the needs of the hotel. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESAssists in providing overall direction and coordination of Hotel Drisco kitchen and food program. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, assigning, and directing tasks, side work, and shift maintenance, performance appraisals, and addressing challenges and conflict when needed.

- Able to write reports, correspondences, memos and employee performance evaluations.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency within a Windows environment including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.
- Experience using an iPad.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEAny combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma is preferred.
ServSafe and RBS certifications required.

PAY SCALEThe salary for this position is $75,000. This is the pay rate for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
