Now Hiring: ProRep Coalition Summer 2025 Student Democracy Fellows
Location: Berkeley, California (hybrid/remote + in-person)
Dates (flexible): June–August 2026 (9 weeks)/25 hours-per-week
Compensation: $4,000 stipend
ProRep Coalition is hiring two Democracy Fellows to support our work to promote proportional representation and multiparty democracy in California.
These fellowships are available to students enrolled in a university or college in the San Francisco Bay Area who are interested in gaining experience in grassroots democracy reform.
You'll work across three core areas:
Communications & Public Speaking
Develop an organizing toolkit on proportional representation to promote multiparty democracy to students and others on campus. Lead efforts to engage students through presentations, social media posts, and conversations about electoral reform.
University Chapter Development
Help launch a student volunteer chapter; recruit peers, and build campus partnerships.
Democracy Reform Town Halls
Support the development and implementation of community forums being piloted statewide as part of our path toward a future ballot initiative.
-Passionate about democracy and systemic change
-Excellent communicators, comfortable speaking with the public
-Organized, proactive, and collaborative
-Based in the San Francisco Bay Area
-No prior experience with proportional representation required — we'll train you.
-Experience organizing in the democracy reform space
-Public speaking, volunteer leadership skills, and event planning experience
-Mentorship from democracy reform organizers
-A meaningful role in shaping California's democratic future
