Block by Block is seeking a highly responsible and proactive Operations Supervisor to lead communications and operational oversight for our program. This role is ideal for a strategic leader with strong operational acumen, excellent communication skills, and a passion for public safety and community engagement.
You'll be responsible for managing a team of Ambassadors, overseeing cleaning and safety operations, and ensuring service excellence in a dynamic urban environment.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage daily operations of Ambassadors
- Draft and distribute real-time incident updates to management and clients.
- Provide ongoing training and coaching to staff.
- Ensure service quality through performance evaluations and client feedback.
- Serve as liaison to partner agencies and stakeholders.
- Maintain visibility in the field, mentoring staff and verifying work completion.
Front Line Leadership - Supervise shift duties and ensure compliance with Block by Block standards and client expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and community responsiveness.
- Support and oversee a team of 87 personnel and assigned equipment.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and other Supervisors on staffing and deployment plans.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and development of team members.
Additional Responsibilities - Apply Block by Block's operating model to address local needs and concerns.
- Adjust deployment plans daily to maximize visibility and effectiveness.
- Engage with stakeholders to improve service delivery and evolve the program.
- Complete reports and administrative tasks using standard and custom reporting tools.
Qualifications - Experience in public safety, dispatch operations, or field supervision.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage crisis situations professionally.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, web-based platforms).
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Be coachable, ready to learn new ideas and procedures
Preferred Skills - Mechanically inclined; experience with small engine equipment or light-duty trucks.
- Background in trades such as landscaping, carpentry, or general construction.
- Bilingual abilities a plus.
- Security background.
- Dispatch background.

Physical Abilities: Must have the physical capacity to walk continuously during an eight hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen minutes, and one thirty minute meal break). Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
Communication: Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
Computer Skills: Must be proficient in computer usage and in Microsoft Office products.
