Position Summary

FACES seeks an experienced Education and Inclusion Coach to provide coaching and inclusion services to our Family Child Care Network (FCCHEN) providers and the children they serve. The role delivers on-site and distance coaching to home-based providers serving children 0-12, supporting quality improvement goals, professional development, and best practices in early childhood education and delivers comprehensive assessment and intervention services for children with developmental needs.

What You'll Do

Coaching

  • Provide one-on-one coaching to a caseload of FCC providers using practice-based, instructional, and transformational coaching approaches aligned with Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) goals.
  • Support providers in implementing best practices and developmentally appropriate classroom activities to support children's individual needs.
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze educational data, including children's progress reports, DRDP (Desired Results Developmental Profile) data, IEPs(Individualized Education Program)/IFSPs(Individualized Family Service Plan), professional development records, licensing reports, and health and nutrition documentation.
  • Conduct FCCERS (Family Child Care Environmental Rating Scale) and CLASS (Classroom Assessments Scoring System) assessments and partner with FCC providers to use formal and informal data to establish and track quality improvement goals.
  • Collaborate with the coaching team to facilitate trainings and PLCs (Professional Learning Communities).
  • Travel to family child care homes and Child Development Centers throughout San Francisco to provide individualized coaching and support, conduct site visits, and distribute educational materials.
  • Participate in required trainings and meetings through FCCHEN dept and the San Francisco Department of Early Childhood(DEC), including coaching collaborative meetings, FCC roundtables, and professional development sessions.

Inclusion

  • Provide individualized on-site and distance, one-to-one support to FCC providers serving children with suspected developmental needs or delays.
  • Support implementation of individualized goals outlined in IEPs and IFSPs and develop systems to track progress over time.
  • Partner with the Educational Manager to guide providers in implementing CSEFEL (Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning) tools to support children's social-emotional development.
  • Track, collaborate and follow up with ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaire) and DRDP concerns with providers and families.
  • Assist providers in identifying and accessing resources such as adaptive equipment and instructional materials to support school readiness for all children.
  • Meet with providers, guardians, and consultants (i.e. OT (Occupational Therapist), mental health services, etc.) as needed to discuss and interpret ASQs, IEPs, and assessments.
  • Support families and providers through the referrals process, advocate as needed, and serve as an inclusion liaison to strengthen systems of support for children with developmental delays or special needs.

Qualifications

You have a solid mix of the following knowledge, ability, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a lead teacher
  • Minimum of 2 years of coaching adult learning
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing individualized support to children with developmental delays or disabilities (e.g. autism, speech, and language impairment)
  • Hold or qualify for the California Child Site Supervisor permit (Special Education Certification plus)
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin/Cantonese (required)
  • Experience coaching and mentoring staff and facilitating workshops or trainings (preferred)
  • Requires various weekend and evening training and events participation.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Non-profit experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of ECE curricula, assessments, and screening tools, including FCCERS, CLASS, ASQ, CSEFEL, DRDP etc.
  • Preferred certifications: CLASS (Infant, Toddler, and 2nd Pre K) and Program for Infant and Toddler Care (PITC) Facilitator
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry materials weighing between ten (10) to fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to frequently travel within San Francisco; must possess a valid California driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Ability to meet and maintain required state, federal, local, and CDC standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, CPR)
