Maintenance Manager

Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all maintenance activities to ensure manufacturing equipment and infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role leads maintenance staff, manages vendors, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset life. This person will build programs in Fremont and scale it and train staff at other production facilities including Vancouver and Jacksonville.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Operations

  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities
  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of manufacturing and specialized equipment. Ability to help the facilities team as requested.
  • Develop and manage maintenance workflows using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Analyze equipment performance and maintenance data to improve reliability and reduce costs

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, train, and evaluate maintenance technicians and supervisors
  • Assign work, prioritize tasks, and ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Put SOPs and trainings into place, develop SOPs, and look for ways to continuously improve

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Select, manage, and evaluate contractors and service providers for manufacturing equipment.
  • Negotiate service agreements and ensure work meets quality, safety, and budget standards
  • Coordinate external inspections and certifications for manufacturing equipment.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Maintain records for audits, inspections, and certifications

Facilities & Strategic Support

  • Support facility upgrades, renovations, and capital projects as requested, most likely input regarding production equipment and utilities.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Manufacturing, EHS, and Leadership teams
  • Contribute to long-term facilities and maintenance strategy

Supervision of Personnel

  • This role will not be responsible for supervision/management of other people.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of maintenance or facilities experience, with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing in relation to manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with CMMS platforms
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications (CFM, CPM, RCM, PMP, or similar)
  • Experience in manufacturing or critical facilities environments
  • Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk through the facilities, climb ladders, and access equipment areas as needed.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move equipment and/or tools up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations outside normal business hours.

Work Environment

  • Employees are expected to dress professionally and appropriately for the tasks performed.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper PPE is provided for employees entering loud spaces like our manufacturing space.
  • Work hours are on a set schedule but will need to be flexible and able to come in as needed.
  • Must be able to work in cold and warm environments.
  • On-call for emergencies and respond to after-hour alarms as necessary.

Location

The position will be onsite at any and all of our Fremont, California facilities with regular travel between these facilities, but may require up to 10% travel to other IEM facilities, supplier sites, or for compliance audits & conferences.

The California salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
