Dance Specialist - Summer Camp 2026

Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more.

The Dance Specialist will create, organize, and implement 1-2 week sessions of camp per camp. Dance Camps are offered for campers in grades 1-5. Campers will be introduced to the world of all things dance and hone their skills through hands-on experience.

The ideal candidate should have strong classroom management skills and must be able to implement a well-rounded Dance curriculum for youth ages 6 - 11.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary role model for a group of campers, grades K through 5
  • Create a safe, supportive environment for campers
  • Plan, organize and supervise fun and stimulating activities
  • Set clear, consistent limits and resolve behavioral challenges with help from supervisors
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year as an educator
  • Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate dance and choreography for elementary school-aged campers.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Passions for dance, informal education and youth programs.
  • Knowledge of summer camps preferred.
  • Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently.
  • Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise a must.
  • Must be actively engaged in dance programming with the campers

Working Conditions:

Will be working with youth ages 6-11. The campers will have a home base camp room and will rotate specialist time in the dance studios on-site at the JCC. We will also utilize other performance spaces such as the atrium for small family performances.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires seated or standing use of a computer throughout the day.

Status:

Non-benefited, non-exempt position

Hours:

  • Up to 10 hours of prep work per week 5/1/2026 5/31/2026
  • 37.5 hours per week from 6/1/2026 8/21/2026

Schedule:

  • Staff Training: 6/1/2026-6/5/2026
  • Summer Direct Service Hours: June 8, 2025-August 21, 2026
    • 8:00am 4:00pm, Monday Friday
