Our San Francisco Tri-State Property and Casualty practice boasts a talented team of about 50 professionals with varied expertise. We help insurance carriers, reinsurers, and self-insured entities tackle challenges related to loss reserving, pricing, predictive modeling, and regulatory compliance, focusing on important topics like climate resilience and telematics.

What You Will Do

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will collaborate with diverse teams to execute analyses and conduct research that will offer innovative solutions for our clients' intricate challenges. Your analytical insights will be vital for rate analysis and development, impacting insurance programs nationwide.

Your main responsibilities will include extracting, cleaning, and analyzing complex datasets using advanced skills in SQL and Python. You will work closely with our GIS and catastrophe modeling teams to refine predictive models and establish fair rates for insurance premiums.

You will also prepare comprehensive exhibits, charts, and interactive visualizations to effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Your key responsibilities will involve:

  • Cleaning and preparing data for analysis, conducting peer reviews to ensure accuracy.
  • Utilizing SQL and Python or R for predictive modeling and rate analyses.
  • Drafting detailed reports and Excel-based exhibits for both internal and external communications.
  • Engaging in research projects of varying scope and importance.

What We Are Looking For

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, emphasizing quantitative coursework in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, or statistics.
  • At least two completed actuarial exams, actively pursuing a credential from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • A minimum of one relevant internship or up to four years of professional actuarial experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
  • Strong skills in Python or R and SQL for data analysis.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens and residents of the continental United States.
  • Candidates should be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government-issued Public Trust security clearance.

Location

This is a remote position within the United States. Occasional travel for practice meetings, company events, or industry conferences may be necessary.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $60,300 - $136,160, with variations based on factors like education, work experience, and qualifications.

For candidates residing in specific states, the following salary adjustments apply:

  • For Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or D.C.:
    • $69,345 - $121,555 for those with less than 2 years of experience.
    • $77,740 - $136,160 for those with 2 to 4 years of experience.
  • For all other states:
    • $60,300 - $105,700 for less than 2 years of experience.
    • $67,600 - $118,400 for 2 to 4 years of experience.
