Position Summary

The Substation Construction Inspection organization is headquartered in Vacaville, CA. Our Senior Inspectors work at various Substation construction sites throughout the Pacific Gas & Electric Company's service territory, which may require extensive overnight travel. As a Senior Inspector, you will act as a crucial liaison between contractors and various workgroups involved in successful project completion. Your primary focus will be on quality control, quality assurance, and fostering a safe work environment for yourself and others.

Salary Information:
Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area): $109,000
Mid Base Salary (Bay Area): $142,000
Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area): $175,000
Minimum Base Salary (CA): $104,000
Mid Base Salary (CA): $135,000
Maximum Base Salary (CA): $166,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Interact directly with contractors on substation electrical or civil construction projects at construction worksites.
  • Serve as a liaison between contractor activities and engineering departments regarding material and design deficiencies.
  • Read and interpret electrical and civil drawings while documenting as-built information.
  • Research construction drawings and assess site conditions to ensure design constructability.
  • Track and document unit quantities, material usage, project status, and communicate updates with the Lead Inspector.
  • Consider and document compliance requirements for construction projects.
  • Oversee safety tailboards for contractors, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Ensure all projects comply with PG&E standards through diligent quality control and assurance practices.
  • Communicate contractor activities effectively with all workgroups involved in substation construction.
  • Participate in onsite tailboards or group discussions for coordinated safety and productivity efforts.

Qualifications

Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 4 years of journey-level experience in construction related work (civil or electrical).

Desired:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- Experience at PG&E (as an internal employee, Hiring Hall, or contractor).
- Proficient in interpreting electrical or civil drawings for constructability confirmation.
- Strong skills in MS Office Suite.
- Experience in an electrical utility or refinery setting.
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
