Construction Project Manager (San Francisco, CA)


LHH is teaming up with a non‑profit affordable‑housing organization in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA in search of a Construction Project Manager to support the development and execution of new residential housing projects.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional who thrives in managing multi‑family residential projects from predevelopment through close‑out. They should bring strong budget management skills, the ability to interpret plans, confidence working with subcontractors and permitting agencies, and a passion for building safe, high‑quality communities. Exceptional organization, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review design concepts for new construction projects and provide cost estimates, schedules, and scope recommendations.
  • Develop Scopes of Work and material take-offs; solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and manage project schedules in coordination with field leadership and trade partners.
  • Oversee procurement, including strategic use of donated materials.
  • Administer subcontractor contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and monthly billing.
  • Manage monthly construction draws, approvals, and budget updates.
  • Track and coordinate RFIs, submittals, and project documentation through project management software (Procore).
  • Facilitate project meetings, issue agendas and minutes, and support short‑interval planning.
  • Coordinate sustainability requirements between field teams and consultants.
  • Prepare warranty and maintenance manuals and oversee close‑out procedures.
  • Work with municipal agencies to secure permits, track inspections, and maintain compliance.
  • Provide internal reporting, support process improvements, and act as a liaison between office and field operations.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Construction Project Manager or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency with project management software (Excel, MS Project, Procore).
  • In-depth understanding of multi‑family residential construction and the ability to read/interpret construction drawings.
  • Experience developing and managing detailed project budgets and bids.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent prioritization, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.


Preferred:

  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification.
  • Interest or background in affordable housing or community development.


Job Type: Direct Hire

Start Date: ASAP

Location: On Site - San Francisco, CA

Hours: Full-time, standard business hours with site visits as required

Pay Rate: $120,000–$130,000/year, depending on experience
