Project-Based Assignment

Position Overview

We are seeking an entry-level RTLS Network Technician to support a project-based deployment of a Real-Time Location Services (RTLS) solution within a healthcare environment in Charlottesville, VA. This role will assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of RTLS infrastructure and location beacons on medical devices to support asset tracking and operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install RTLS beacons on medical devices in accordance with project and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist with installation and setup of RTLS network components, including sensors, gateways, and related hardware.
  • Support basic network connectivity tasks involving Ethernet, PoE, and wireless connections.
  • Perform device activation, labeling, and validation to ensure accurate asset tracking.
  • Conduct basic testing and assist with troubleshooting connectivity or device issues.
  • Follow hospital safety, infection control, and equipment handling protocols.
  • Document installed devices, locations, and installation status.
  • Work closely with project leads and on-site staff to complete deployment milestones on schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training a plus.
  • 0–2 years of experience in technical, IT, biomedical, or field service roles (entry-level candidates welcome).
  • Comfortable using hand tools and basic technical equipment.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, floor plans, and checklists.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Professional communication skills and comfort working in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to healthcare environments, IT support, or medical equipment handling.
  • Experience with low-voltage systems, networking, or device installations.
  • Familiarity with asset tracking, IoT, or RTLS technologies.
  • CompTIA A+ or similar foundational certification a plus.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • On-site work within an active healthcare facility.
  • Project-based assignment with defined timelines.
  • Standing, walking, bending, and light lifting of equipment required.
  • Adherence to hospital policies, confidentiality requirements, and safety standards
