Role Description

We are seeking a Cantonese Translator to assist our program with translating essential materials and supporting communication between our bilingual volunteers, staff, and community partners.

The translator will help ensure that all participants—especially those who are monolingual in Cantonese—can fully engage in our trainings, orientations, and community events. We are specifically looking for someone who is available to provide translation services on the second Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Provide verbal translation during meetings, orientations, or volunteer trainings as needed
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure translations are accurate and culturally appropriate
• Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when handling program or participant information
• Help translate written materials (e.g., forms, flyers, orientation packets, announcements)

Qualifications

• Fluent in Cantonese (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Comfortable communicating in English
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and culturally sensitive
• Prior translation experience (preferred but not required)
• Passionate about serving the community and supporting older adults
