Description:

Ungrafted is a chef-driven restaurant with a serious wine program in the Dogpatch, San Francisco. We are seeking a sommelier/server, someone who doesn't just talk wine, but makes people feel warm and welcome, makes food and wine suggestions, punches in orders, runs food, busses tables and works hard.

Ungrafted is a great place to learn the steps of service and also learn to work quickly. It's a fun environment, with great guests who travel a lot and already know a great deal about food and wine. Our guests do expect a high level of service, despite a more casual environment. This is a job for people who like multi-tasking.

We are on the hunt for a very specific type of person---fun, friendly, weird, a multitasker, a wine/beer/sake/sherry lover, and a strong conversationalist. Our regulars come in multiple times a week and they like to get to know the staff. We we are looking for someone who fits in with our staff and adds to the existing Ungrafted culture.

You do not have to be a certified sommelier to apply but you need to have restaurant experience AND an equivalent amount of wine knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Is CMS Certified OR has equivalent wine knowledge
  • Has at least 3+ years of restaurant experience, sommelier experience a plus
  • Able to lift 30+ lbs.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Polished personal presentation meeting company standards, as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions when working under stress, in fast-paced environment.
  • Can help develop and maintain a culture of inclusive excellence and workplace dignity.
  • Can help cultivate a work environment that is safety-first, kind, and encourages personal and professional growth.
