TemPositions is excited to partner with a large, mission-driven public research institution serving communities across California to hire an experienced Accountant 5. This is a high-level accounting role supporting Financial Services and working on complex financial reporting, systems, and analysis initiatives.

• Duration: This is a temporary role.
• Location: Oakland, CA
• Schedule: Full-time, hybrid
• Compensation: $48/hour (flexible depending on experience)

What You'll Do:

• Lead preparation of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Oversee general ledger entries and reconciliations
• Perform advanced financial analysis and forecasting
• Support and strengthen internal controls
• Lead or support accounting system implementations and enhancements
• Coordinate UBIT-related reporting
• Provide guidance on projects and serve in a lead capacity

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong expertise in Oracle and/or PeopleSoft
• Experience with financial system implementations or transformations
• Advanced Excel skills (complex analysis and reporting)
• Deep understanding of internal controls and financial reporting standards
• Ability to work independently on complex initiatives

Preferred:

• CPA or Master's degree
• Higher education or public sector experience
• Experience with FCCS, AWS, SmartView, QuickSight, SQL, or Power BI
