Job Overview:

UPS is seeking dedicated Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics. In this critical role, you will perform maintenance activities to ensure our package handling facilities run efficiently. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring regular interaction with fellow team members. Candidates must be flexible for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts in our 24/7 operations. A robust electrical background is essential, and applicants must successfully complete an electrical assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace both AC and DC electrical equipment, including batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo-driven equipment, photoelectric devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and encoders.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace pneumatic equipment like diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace hydraulic equipment including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
  • Weld structural components such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating as necessary.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on plant equipment including conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.

Compensation:

The starting pay rate for this union-represented position is $41.50/hr, governed by collective bargaining agreements. Benefits include weekly pay, comprehensive training, growth opportunities, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plans, and medical, dental, and vision coverage after a waiting or probation period, along with paid vacation, sick leave, family and medical leave as required by law, paid holidays, an education assistance program, and a discounted employee stock purchase program.
