Role Description

The blended bookkeeping and administrative role is fully in-office, serving as the friendly front desk hub for our San Francisco property management company while completing accounting transactions for the property portfolio. It combines resident-facing reception duties with bookkeeping responsibilities and office administration to assist with ensuring smooth daily operations.This position has opportunity for advancement in a growing San Francisco company.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately complete bookkeeping entries as assigned.
  • Process Accounts Payable transactions.
  • Process Accounts Receivable transactions.
  • Accept rent payments and issue receipts.
  • Process maintenance requests.
  • Perform administrative and office support activities including filing, copying, mailings, scanning, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Open, review, and sort all incoming mail.
  • Review and code invoices for authorization and payment.
  • File invoices in appropriate folders for payment.
  • Process bank deposits including check scanning and cash deposits.
  • Create reports from AppFolio and Excel as requested.
  • Prepare rent increases for eligible tenants in accordance with established procedures.
  • Greet visitors to the office, ensuring they have a positive first interaction with West Coast.
  • Answer the office phone, take messages and forward calls as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Experience working in an Accounts Receivable or an Accounts Payable position.
  • Experience and understanding of the use of debits and credits in recording Journal Entries to maintain accurate and comprehensive financial transaction records.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of post-secondary (college level) Accounting 101 course or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices
  • Experience recording financial transactions for organizations or individuals utilizing accounting software.
  • Ability to read and analyze basic financial transaction reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, and General Ledgers.
  • Prior Bookkeeping or Property Management industry experience extremely helpful but not required.
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn new software programs as needed.
  • Professional in appearance and attitude.
  • Extensive customer contact.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function in a Windows Server environment using the Microsoft Office Suite software (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Minimum experience requirement: 2 years working as a bookkeeping/accounting professional.
  • Familiarity with AppFolio property management software is helpful but not required.
