You will perform maintenance directly while also supervising technicians, setting priorities, and establishing the preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance processes required to scale from pilot builds into sustained production. This role is critical to minimizing downtime, enabling throughput, and ensuring safe, reliable manufacturing operations as Peak Energy grows.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and coordinate maintenance technicians across shifts to support production and facility needs.
  • Schedule and prioritize preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Serve as the first level of escalation for equipment, tooling, and facility issues.
  • Identify training needs and support onboarding and skill development of maintenance technicians.
Hands-On Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform hands-on maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment, test systems, tooling, and facility infrastructure.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system failures and determine corrective actions.
  • Analyze failures, test results, and equipment performance trends to prevent recurrence.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, and changeovers.
Process Development & Scaling
  • Build and maintain standard maintenance procedures, PM schedules, and documentation.
  • Transition maintenance from reactive fixes to structured preventive and predictive programs as operations scale.
  • Establish spare parts strategies, tooling readiness, and maintenance workflows that support production growth.
  • Improve maintenance planning, work order tracking, and equipment history systems.
Safety, Training & Compliance
  • Champion safety by identifying and eliminating unsafe conditions and enforcing safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, electrical, and equipment standards.
  • Train technicians on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Support audits, inspections, and corrective actions related to equipment and facilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Facilities to resolve maintenance issues and improve equipment reliability.
  • Support NPI, pilot builds, and production ramps by ensuring equipment readiness and maintainability.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on equipment design, reliability risks, and maintainability improvements.
Continuous Improvement & Reliability
  • Track maintenance KPIs such as uptime, downtime, MTBF, and response time.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for recurring failures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and increase equipment availability.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical or associate degree preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in maintenance or facilities roles within manufacturing environments.
  • Prior experience leading or supervising technicians (formal or informal).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience maintaining production equipment, test systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Ability to prioritize work, respond under pressure, and keep operations running safely.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to escalate issues and coordinate cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting battery manufacturing, ESS, electronics, or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Certifications such as Electrician's License, Boiler License, or equivalent trade certifications.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance tracking systems.
  • Experience supporting NPI, pilot manufacturing, or early production scaling.
  • Exposure to Lean, TPM, or reliability-centered maintenance practices.
What Success Looks Like
