Work Hours: 5 days per week | 37.5 hours per week | 7.5 hrs per day | 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
The job of Shipping/Receiving Specialist is done for the purpose of providing support to the warehousing operations with specific responsibilities for processing mail and postal services; maintaining required inventory levels; ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct in central receiving system for the Alameda County Office of Education; maintaining an organized warehouse layout; transporting orders over designated routes; ensuring safe operation of vehicles; and loading and unloading orders. This job reports to the Assigned Administrator.

Communicates using a variety of tools (e.g. email, phone, work orders, verbally, memos, two-way radios, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating activities, resolving issues and conflicts and exchanging information. Confers with a variety of personnel for the purpose of communicating with users regarding mailing, postal service and shipping issues. Coordinates vendor shipping and receiving schedules for the purpose of facilitating the efficient and timely delivery of materials and documents. Delivers a variety of items (e.g. mail, boxes, packages, cargo, office supplies, furniture, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of distributing items to both on-site, school-site departments, staff, and occasionally school districts. Fills and distributes requisitions, requests for material, tools, or other stock items for the purpose of ensuring timely and efficient response and delivery. Loads and unloads delivery trucks for the purpose of receiving and transporting ordered/received materials (e.g. records/files, supplies, equipment, materials, mail, etc.) and/or filling orders.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience: One year related experience and/or training providing knowledge of postal regulations and services. Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
